April 2020

I occassionally get asked to give talks and presentations. In January I gave a talk to 500 art students at West Suffolk Collage in Bury St Edmunds and the following month I gave a talk and demonstration at Benenden School in Kent.

The London Original Print Fair at The Royal Academy is an exhibition I always look forward to. This year however, because of the Covid-19 pandemic, it will take place digitally throughout May 2020. I am exhibiting with Eames Fine Art and my print Frozen which was purchased by The British Museum is one of the prints that will be on sale.

I've recently shown both prints and paintings at the lovely Twenty Twenty Gallery in Ludlow and there is talk that I may be showing new prints in their Christmas Print show.

With my Solo Show coming up in November at Eames Fine Art, I have been busy producing a new set of prints at Sudbourne Studios and at home, I have been working on a new set of paintings.

One of the nicest aspects of this business is visiting the galleries that represent my work. Recently I delivered new work to the excellent Zillah Bell Gallery in Thirsk where it was fantastic to talk to John Bell about his recent trip to Ireland with Norman Ackroyd and Barbara Rae – what a time they had!

More recently, I delivered prints to a new gallery for me – Twenty Twenty Gallery in Ludlow. I was in luck there too because they had a fabulous exhibition of St. Ives’ artists which I was able to enjoy. My prints will be exhibited there from 21st September until 26th October 2019 in an exhibition entitled 'A Sense of Place’. For further details please click here.

My Solo Show at Eames Fine Art in November and December 2018 was a wonderful success with sales continuing into January and February. I’d like to thank all those who attended the Show and especially those who purchased either a painting or print.

In February Chris and I were invited to Marlborough College where my work was on display at Art @the Lodge. The following day we travelled to Bristol to see the wonderful Albert Irvin Exhibition at the RWA.

The next exhibition is at The Cut, Halesworth, Suffolk which opens on Friday 12th April 2019 and closes on Sunday 14th April.

I’m also exhibiting with Sudbourne Printmakers at the Peter Pears Gallery, 152, High Street, Aldeburgh from Friday 19th April to Wednesday 24th April.

Then on to the London Original Print Fair at the Royal Academy of Arts, Piccadilly, London from Thursday 25th April to Sunday 28th April.

29th November 2017
Eames Fine Art Studio

I am delighted to have been invited to give a talk at The Eames Fine Art Collectors' Studio on Wednesday 29th November.

I will talk through these and why they're so important to my development, culminating in an introduction to my latest prints and how I arrived at this new body of work.

This is a ticket only event so if you are interested in attending please contact the gallery on 020 7407 1025 or email

Bankside Gallery

The Masters is an annual exhibition held by the Royal Society of Painter-Printmakers (RE) at Bankside Gallery, focusing in turn on one of the many techniques practised by one of their members, and is curated by an established professional printmaker working in that technique. This year's technique is monoprint and the show is being curated by Morgan Doyle RE, a highly skilled printmaker who frequently uses this technique and whose work I have admired for a long time.

Winter Show

I’ve been asked to give a talk on that evening and if you would like to attend please contact the Gallery direct.

Palmer and Me
The film 'Palmer and Me' was given its premiere at the London Original Print Fair held at the Royal Academy. It will next be shown at the British Museum and then hopefully the V&A. Taking part was a joy as Mike Southon the producer and director put everyone at ease. I would highly recommend the film as it shows the standing Palmer has in the art world for someone who only produced 28 prints.

Latest Work
Over the last few months I have been working on new prints at Sudbourne Printmakers, as well as making a new large bronze sculpture. I made several small works in bronze for my last solo show at Eames and they were well received so several new pieces are on their way. The large commission will be unveiled on July 14th and I will post an image after that date.

March 2017

I was recently lucky enough to spend some time with Mike Southon, who has just completed his latest film 'Palmer and Me’.

In September 2016, the artists associated with Eames Fine Art were invited to share food and wine at their studio in Bermondsey to launch a most novel idea.

For over 35 years one of their artists, Edward Twohig, has painstakingly assembled a complete collection of the etchings of the English author and printer Samuel Palmer. Edward recently invited artists to live with one of these prints for a month, and to produce their own piece of work in reaction to this. ‘Palmer and Me’ follows the progress and myriad of forms that the contemporary artists used to create their reactions. The artists discuss their approach and express their feelings towards both Palmer’s work and what he gives to creativity today.

The resulting film, ‘Palmer and Me’ is a 56 minute documentary, produced and directed by Mike Southon.

14 – 19 APRIL 2017, 10:00AM – 5:00PM

Following on from the success of their winter show, I am delighted to be showing new work at their forthcoming Easter exhibition.

I would like to say a big thank you to everyone who visited my Solo Exhibition 'So you think you know me' at Eames Fine Art Gallery and a special thank you to those of you who purchased a painting, a print or a sculpture.

I was honoured to be asked by Gunjan Ahlawat, who was the Design Cover Director for Hatchett Book's if he could use the image of one of my prints for a book cover for 'I Dreamt a Horse Fell from the Sky' by Adil Jussawalla.

A major influential presence on the landscape of post-independence Indian English Poetry, Adil Jussawalla's I Dreamt A Horse Fell from the Sky brings together, for the first time, selected prose pieces and works of criticism, selected poetry from his four collections including a section comprising entirely of new and uncollected poems, and the little fiction he wrote over an expansive career spanning over two decades, including a hitherto unpublished novel. A collectible for anyone interested in the changing landscape of post-independence Indian English literature and poetry.

About the Author
Born in Bombay in 1940, Adil Jussawalla has been a lecturer at St. Xavier's College, Bombay, the literary editor of various magazines and newspapers, and has edited an anthology titled New Writing in India (1974). He is the author of four books of poems. His third, Trying to Say Goodbye, was awarded the Sahitya Akademi Award for an outstanding work of literature in English in 2014. Maps for a Mortal Moon, a volume of some of his prose, selected and edited by Jerry Pinto, was published by the Aleph Book Company in 2013.

Eames Fine Art are planning an exhibition to coincide my 70th Birthday later in the year.

I have recently returned from a three week trip to Canada, where I was fortunate enough to visit three print studios based on Granville Island, Vancouver.

Of particular interest was the New Leaf Editions workshop. Established by Peter Braune in 1985, the studio collaborates with artists to allow them to fully express themselves in print, and continue to work with many locally and internationally acclaimed artists across a number of printmaking techniques.

I found the work hugely rewarding, and could certainly work alongside these guys… although the weekly commute might be a bit of an issue!

My forthcoming exhibition at the Parndon Mill Gallery is rather special to me and, having known the owners Sally Anderson and Roger Lee for many years, is one that I am very much looking forward to.

I came to live and work in Harlow in back 1968. In 1971 I set up my opticians practice in Old Harlow where I worked for over 30 years before selling the practice to concentrate full time on my art. During this time I became a member of the Mulberry Art Group which, for many years, exhibited at St John’s Art & Leisure Centre, Old Harlow. Sally and Roger were regular visitors to these exhibitions and both have since purchased my work.

I was thrilled to be invited, and what a pleasure it will be to exhibit my work in their beautiful waterside gallery, within a mill steeped in artistic history and fond memories.
